Padakshep collaborates with Bigyan portal (www.bigyan.org.in) for the spreading of science in Bangla, the vernacular language in the state of West Bengal, India. As the aims of Bigyan overlaps completely with some of Padakshep’s agenda, we hereby adopt this policy which will provide a guideline of our working principle. In case of any conflict between the policy and the Bylaws of Padakshep, the bylaws will have a preference over the policy. All the decisions are subject to voting by the core group members at Padakshep and approval by the Board of Directors or the governing body of Students’ Padakshep. The policy is subject to change periodically as deemed necessary from time to time. Padakshep will retain the right to decide on funding the Bigyan portal.
Bigyan Liaison is a core group member of Padakshep who oversees the collaboration between Padakshep and Bigyan.
3rd party is any person or organization other than the Bigyan Committee and Padakshep.
The Board of directors manages Padakshep in the US.
Governing body manages Students’ Padakshep in India.
Creating printed or online materials or tools in Bangla on concepts and research in various fields of sciences.
Distribution of these materials among students in schools and colleges of West Bengal, India.
Creating complementary education material in science for our Open teaching Project.
Supplying educational materials to students of West Bengal.
Fundraising for the above-mentioned mission of Padakshep and Bigyan.
Padakshep volunteers are encouraged to participate and contribute to the Bigyan portal. Interested volunteers will be given short orientation regarding Bigyan. However, such training will be offered by the editors of Bigyan.
Padakshep’s board of directors or the governing body will assign a committee on managing the activities at Bigyan. The committee will consist of-
3 core group members of Padakshep including one Bigyan Liaison.
6 active participants in Bigyan. These 6 active participants must be active for at least the past 3 months before being inducted into the committee. Inactive participants for more than 6 months must be replaced by new members.
The Bigyan committee will prepare a budget for the planned activities on a rolling basis. A budget proposal must be prepared and approved by the Board of Directors or the governing body for fundraising activities. It can also be used for any grant application on behalf of Padakshep.
Bigyan committee will maintain a detailed financial document where every transaction will be recorded. He/she will be fully responsible for a monthly update on the utilization of the funds. Additional volunteers may be assigned for such jobs by the Bigyan Committee.
All expenditures must be approved by the Bigyan Committee prior to the actual transaction. All reimbursements should be after a valid payment receipt is submitted.
All educational materials that are distributed to the general public must be offered for free as consistent with Padakshep’s motto. The Bigyan committee will be responsible for the nature of transactions to ensure Bigyan or Padakshep do not sell products.
All fundraising activities for Bigyan should utilize Padakshep’s fundraising platforms to ensure they comply with the US or any foreign government regulations. Any fundraising activity outside the platform will jeopardize Padakshep’s legal status and therefore the Bigyan Committee will monitor all fundraising activities.
Funding for the Bigyan portal will be subject to periodic evaluation and will be renewed only if the purposes serve Padakshep’s mission and this includes free distribution of knowledge, the popularization of science, etc. An annual meeting will be held for the Bigyan Committee to ensure all requirements are met.
All grant applications must be approved by the Bigyan Committee before submission. All formal collaborations with a 3rd party (person or organization) must be approved by the Bigyan Committee.
The Bigyan Committee will be responsible for appointing volunteers, editors, website managers, etc. for the Bigyan portal.
Any new volunteers of the Bigyan portal must be aware of the clauses of this policy. They do not necessarily have to be assigned from Padakshep’s volunteer base.
All educational materials used by Bigyan must follow US and foreign copyright laws.
Padakshep will publicize the projects of the Bigyan portal within the general public and ensure that the participants in the Bigyan projects are credited properly.
The website dedicated to Bigyan’s activities should appropriately reflect Padakshep’s contributions and involvement in a clearly visible fashion.
Usage of the Bigyan logo and materials for such purposes will be initiated only after prior approval by the Bigyan Committee.
Padakshep logo and materials can also be used by Bigyan after approval by the Bigyan Committee.
